Since 2011, this site has been helping ministers of God's word become the best proclaimers that they've been called to be. And not just from the pulpit or ambo. All of us from our pews and pathways to our communities have boundless opportunities to proclaim and exemplify God's word to those whom we encounter.
Whatever your roles or ministries are in your church, I hope this site encourages you to be stronger proclaimers and doers of God's word in your daily lives. Though much of this site's content is geared to the Catholic church, I hope that ministers and worshipers of all faiths find it useful.
Beyond the 101 . . .
It's my hope that the content you'll read and hear on this site will strengthen your appreciation and fuel your passion for this ministry in which we're so privileged to serve. If you're new to the ministry or can just use more basic lector training, take a look at the many well-prepared lector training books and materials on our Resources, Training and Videos pages. But regardless of our time and experience in this great ministry, we owe it to ourselves to visit our Sunday Prep page each time we prepare for our upcoming readings.
Since 1990, I've been a lector and ministry trainer in Catholic churches in Florida and the Midwest. My other ministries have included RCIA training, Liturgy Committee, Cursillo, CHRP, Pastoral Council, Eucharistic minister, stewardship promotion, parish communications and lead bible study roles.
Professionally, I've written books, seminars, workshops and speeches as a sales/marketing executive, speaker and corporate trainer. As a former securities broker and financial advisor, I also write and speak on faith-based personal finance and money management topics.
And as you can see from my photo, I'm on the same page with the concerns, needs and dreams of our "Fifty-Plus" Catholics. See my Seniors page for encouraging ways to live out "Your Home Stretch" from here to God's finish line!
On the light side, I'm a swimmer, cycler and past marathon runner, jazz buff, dancer, karaoke crooner and joyfully married since college with three awesome grandsons (son and daughter-in-law are pretty great too).
I invite you to contact me anytime with your questions, comments and ideas for making this site more useful for you and your church.
George Miller's blog has helped me immensely to develop my skills as a lector. His audio CD, The Catholic Lector, is full of great insights and information to help beginning and experienced lectors. I'll recommend this to the lectors in my parish and to anyone who is discerning a call to this ministry... Suzanne Walsh - New York
I am very impressed with your website and your passion for inspiring others to proclaim God's Word effectively. In fact, your articles are outstanding... Audrey Sommers, National Lector Trainer - Michigan
Hi George. You have no idea how enthusiastic I am receiving your blogs. I give you much credit from using your excerpts to my Ministry... Mary Ann Niles - Texas
